The brief set out was to create a program for a contemporary version of a Shakespeare play with a 21^st century twist. The chosen play was ‘The Merchant of Venice’ set in Paddington and surrounding areas of London. The contemporary storyline version was not for the antagonist to ask for “a pound of flesh” but to secure a bond demanding “a pound of fat” to be burnt.
